🔐 API Credentials Setup

Welcome to the Transient Meta-Broker! To access the latest TNS data and Lasair's advanced features, please enter your credentials below.

🌟 TNS (Transient Name Server)

TNS provides the official transient database. Your credentials allow us to download the latest daily data. To get your credentials:

  1. Create an account at wis-tns.org ↗
  2. Verify your account via email
  3. Find your TNS ID and username from your profile page

🔍 Lasair Broker

Lasair provides Sherlock contextual classifications and catalog cross-matches, but requires authentication for most queries. To get your API token:

  1. Create an account at lasair-ztf.lsst.ac.uk ↗
  2. Activate your account via email verification
  3. Log in and go to your profile to find your API token

🔭 ATLAS Forced Photometry

ATLAS provides all-sky survey photometry with o-band (~560nm) and c-band (~460nm) filters. Enhanced light curves will include both ZTF and ATLAS data. To get your credentials:

  1. Request an account at fallingstar-data.com/forcedphot ↗
  2. Wait for account approval from the ATLAS team
  3. Use your approved username and password

🔒 Privacy & Security:

  • All credentials are stored only in your browser's local storage - never on our servers
  • Credentials are only transmitted securely to official broker APIs (TNS, Lasair) when downloading data
  • No credentials are ever logged, cached, or stored anywhere outside your browser
  • You can clear credentials anytime by clearing your browser data
  • TNS credentials enable access to the full transient database; without them you'll see demo data with only a few example objects
  • TNS uses ID-based authentication - you need both your TNS ID number and username (no password required)
